About Gymkana
Mission Statement
Gymkana's mission is to inspire drug-free and healthy lifestyles through positive example. With children as the primary audience, the members of the Gymkana Troupe demonstrate their commitment to making healthy choices through impressive gymnastic performances and mentorship in Gymkana's gymnastics classes and summer camp.
Gymkana Student-Athletes
It is Gymkana's philosophy that anyone can learn gymnastics regardless of experience or abilities, so membership is open to students of all abilities and backgrounds. Each active member of the Gymkana Troupe is a current student of the University of Maryland. As a member of the Gymkana Troupe, each student-athlete has pledged to remain %100 drug, alcohol, and tobacco free. By making this commitment, the student-athletes of Gymkana demonstrate that anyone can still have fun without abusing drugs or alcohol and accomplish amazing things along the way!
The Show
The Gymkana Troupe performs both men's and women's gymnastics apparatus routines, as well as novelty circus acts that incorporate the use of chairs, ladders and trampolines. Their performances showcase high-flying acrobatics and promote a message of healthy, drug-free living.

History
Founded at the University of Maryland College Park Campus in 1946, the Gymkana Troupe is a non-profit, collegiate, exhibitional gymnastics group touring the United States and influencing young people to join them in pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Each of its 50+ members pledge themselves to be 100% drug-free. Through role modeling and their unique gymnastic performances, they present a powerful anti-drug message in a medium that youth can understand. Students influencing students to soar above the influence of drugs is the heart of the Gymkana Program.
